One of the reasons for going to Gorges du Tarn again and again is the sheer quantity of amazing climbs in my favorite style, that is overhanging pocket pulling! This year things were a little different since due to a bolt failure incident in fall last year, my favorite sectors, Güllich and L´oasif, were largely debolted and closed but two amazing routes, one per each sector remained climbable and I was happy to get them both: Action Discrete is beyond doubt one of the best routes I´ve climbed and L´heure d´ete, an amazing new one tackling the steepest section of the L´oasif roof became my second holiday project after putting down Action Discrete...and to my amazement, it clicked first go after a hangdogging session the day before. Sweet! Despite these two, I kinda focused on climbing a lot as well and managed to get some really cool ones rather fast: overall I can climb a lot harder than I did this trip! I had to invest 6 tries into Action and 1 redpoint attempt into L´heure, so what would be possible if I pulled my ace, namely my stubborness, and invested like 30 tries? I wonder! We´ll see what this fall will bring, especially with my US trip coming up (even though that is planned as a mostly bouldering trip)! In the meantime, I can´t wait to hop on some unfinished business back home!
I´m extremetly grateful for the amazing photos Mr. Johannes Loidl took of me in Action and L´heure...at the same time, I´d like to thank Mr. Ralf Braun for belaying me on both sends and during the Action and L´heure hangdogging sessions...I HIGHLY APPRECIATED your patience and awareness! With my partner in projecting Shorty lost for the time being (not forever, I HOPE) it´s really hard to find people as motivated and driven as I am or at least willing to endure my ammount of psyche as soon as I´ve entered project mode. So again, THANKS!
Here are some photos...
